UPDATED: May 10, 2015: Both positions have now been filled. We thank all who applied for their interest.

Two positions are available to act as trail hosts in the Myra Canyon section of Myra-Bellevue Provincial Park. The positions will be for five days each week, including weekends from June 15 to September 07. The Trail Host positions are directed toward students although non-students will be considered for one of the two positions.

The duties of the Trail Hosts are primarily to act as ambassadors who interact with tourists visiting the Canyon, supplying them with historical and geographical information, and giving information about the trail, the Myra Canyon Trestle Restoration Society (MCTRS), the Kettle Valley Railway, the Okanagan, and other relevant particulars. The Trail Hosts may take care of accidents requiring minor first aid treatment, help with minor bicycle repairs, phone appropriate agencies in case of more serious problems, obtain data by interviewing visitors, and perform other duties that may arise.  The Trail Hosts will be required to provide their own transport to/from the Myra parking lot. They will use bicycles for transport along the Canyon Trail. Each Trail Host will traverse the Canyon from Myra to Ruth and return at least once per day. If required, MCTRS will provide bicycles as well as other necessary equipment.

Pay will be at the rate of $14/hour.  The 8-hour work day, including one hour travel time, will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and includes a 30 minute unpaid lunch break. It is expected that the Trail Hosts will share transportation and will be responsible for transporting bicycles to and from the work site. As the weekends see more visitors Trail Hosts will be required to work on Saturdays and Sundays.

Trail Hosts will be reasonably fit, have an outgoing pleasant personality and enjoy talking to people. The positions will be of particular interest to College/University students studying history, education, the environment, tourism or outdoor recreation. Applications, including a brief resume should be sent to either: (1) trailhostjobs@myra-trestles.com or (2) Myra Canyon Trestle Restoration Society, Capri PO Box 22095, Kelowna, B C V1Y 9N9. Applications will be accepted until the positions are filled although no later than June 01.
